I am incredibly excited to report that my fiancée and I are booked in to eat at Simon Rogan’s restaurant Lenclume in Cartmel, Cumbria towards the end of November. He first came to our attention when we saw him on one of our favourite cookery shows the Great British Menu earlier in the year. I very much admire and appreciate not just his excellent talent for high class cooking that appeals to my taste but also the effort he puts into resourcing all of his ingredients fresh form the landscape surrounding him and not just any old ones will do. No, as he demonstrated on the BBC’s program he will climb mountains to obtain the very best, tastiest produce for his dishes. There is no doubt in my mind the meal will be exquisite.
Eating there is to be quite a unique experience, as there is no menu! Guests arrive and are presented with a chefs selection of dishes made from fresh organic produce from his farm and foraged ingredients gathered that day. The restaurant is adorned with a Michelin star, five AA restaurant guide rosettes and a 9/10 rating in the Good Food guide. If you intend to dine there I advise you book well in advance, and I don’t just mean a week or two, we booked two months in advance for a Friday evening with Saturdays already fully booked.
I can’t wait to tell you all about it, and I do hope you will check back for my review at the end of next month.
