During tennis season I got to thinking about an associated way to combine the popular summer sport with food in a clever appealing image. Then like a ray of light breaking through the cloud, I came up with this Wimbledon themed idea.
Taking green apples and carving out a pattern to make the fruit represent tennis balls. Now all that was required was the dressing which was sourced at a charity shop for £2 and a haberdashery in the local market for a similar bargain price.
The image is set with two flute glasses filled with champagne, aka Appletise. Shhh.
An apple sliced into segments and placed in a chocolate orange wrapper created a fruity play on a Terry’s chocolate orange confectionary bar.
I wanted to create a warm feeling so I lit the shot with one light from the side fitted with a snood to create a concentrated directional light flow. The dark background and directional lighting creates mood and is a good example of low key lighting.
